Discover the cult pieces you might have missed from our New In drop, and add to your basket before they sell out
Leather weather
Never far from the style radar, leather is once again taking center stage for FW23. The material really hits its stride during the transitional months – the perfect way to extend the season of a floaty summer dress, or bring a touch of attitude to off-duty denim. This season’s wish-list-worthy styles are elevated takes on classic leather – see Simone Rocha’s embellished leather jacket and Toteme’s sophisticated, long-line paneled style. Tailored details and crisp cuts ensure these pieces are smart enough for both a working lunch or after-dark cocktails.
Snake-print boots
The beauty of ‘power’ footwear lies in its versatility, transforming minimal separates and instantly elevating pared-back dresses. This season’s hottest pick? Snake-print boots. Imbued with a vintage note, the sleekest styles combine classic silhouettes, timeless colors and beautiful craftsmanship. Cult Milan-based brand Paris Texas delivers the perfect ’60s-inspired pair, while Rag & Bone reworks its popular ‘Brea’ design in tobacco-tone snake-effect leather.
Lingerie dressing
A runway favorite for the past couple of seasons, lingerie dressing looks set to stay in the spotlight for FW23, bringing allure to your wardrobe. Seek out styles that follow traditional lingerie codes – think silk-satin, lace trims and whimsical cuts. Albanian designer Nensi Dojaka’s debut collections spearheaded the trend, or, for a more daytime take on the mood, seek out pieces with a nightgown sensibility, such as Isabel Marant’s whimsical ‘Jordina’ midi dress.
Luxe rugby shirts
Preppy meets sporty, and comfort meets cool in the rugby shirt. The long-sleeved, collared silhouette is extremely wearable and makes the perfect off-duty piece (as approved by the likes of Rihanna, Chloë Sevigny and Hailey Bieber). This version from Gigi Hadid’s newly launched brand, Guest In Residence, comes in cashmere with bold stripes and a dose of the model and creative director’s inherent cool, or try Stella McCartney’s pared-back, equestrian-inspired design, which is also part of our NET SUSTAIN edit of more consciously crafted pieces due to being made from 100% organic cotton.
The denim refresh
Fashion’s love for nostalgic denim shows no sign of abating, as classic silhouettes are revitalized season on season. For FW23, designers riffed on double denim to create jean silhouettes with a contemporary twist. LA-based denim brand Slvrlake splices together two of its classic silhouettes in the ‘Eva X Taylor’ pair, which come NET SUSTAIN-approved, while Isabel Marant’s ‘Noemie’ style features a fringed edge and two-tone denim waistband – perfect for slipping on with a skinny-fit tank, oversized white tee or a classic sweater.
Shearling bags
Considering the reprise of the ’90s and ’00s, which has informed cult accessories for the past few seasons (see giant slouchy totes, top-handle designs and tuck-and-go shoulder bags), it stands to reason that shearling, a firm favorite of the late ’00s, would enjoy a revival, too. These tactile designs are perfect for the drop in temperature – tuck DeMellier’s minimal ‘Cannes’ NET SUSTAIN design under an arm with your essentials, or, for something a little more statement, reach for Jacquemus’ shearling take on its iconic ‘Le Petit Bambidou Doux’.
The hype collaboration
In perhaps the most hotly anticipated collection of FW23, Jean Paul Gaultier creative director Florence Tetier’s latest partnership is with south London brand KNWLS. Once again delving into the iconic silhouettes of the Gaultier archive, this time fusing it with Charlotte Knowles’ contemporary vision, the JPG x KNWLS collaboration delivers a lineup of cult designs – think bold cutaways, trompe l’oeil prints and figure-skimming cuts.
The perfect stack
Our hands play a focal role in day-to-day life, so beautifully layered rings are a great way to add color and sparkle to your look. This season, if you haven’t yet curated your own ring stack, look to the smart designers taking the hard work out of jewelry styling with perfectly put-together sets. See By Pariah’s striking 14-karat-gold and emerald combination, which is exclusive to NET-A-PORTER, or Yvonne Léon’s elegant 9-karat diamond duo. And the real bonus is you can mix and match, offering multiple styling options.
