Megan Roup’s AM/PM routine
Founder of cult fitness program The Sculpt Society, MEGAN ROUP shares her love of gua sha, massages and infrared saunas – and how a shift to intuitive eating has improved her skin
IN THE MORNING
The moment I wake up…
…I drink a big glass of room-temperature water with half a lemon, while I’m making my coffee with almond or oat milk. I usually get up around 7am – if I stick to the same sleep schedule, I feel better throughout the day and week. First, I’ll have some fruit (maybe an apple), then, a little later, I’ll have Ezekiel toast with cream cheese and avocado – or scrambled eggs and avocado.
Recently, I’ve been getting into dry-brushing
It really wakes me up and gets the circulation and lymphatic system going. I don’t like to over-wash my skin, so I just splash my face with cold water. Then I’ll get a Sculpt Society workout in, whether that’s following a video or teaching live on the TSS app. Post-workout, I take a shower and start my skincare routine. I like to begin with a serum (I love the ones by Dime Beauty and Caudalie) and follow with a moisturizer – either Kora Organics Turmeric Glow Moisturizer, Augustinus Bader The Rich Cream or Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream. My last step is a face oil, usually Vintner’s Daughter.
If I teach a live class on The Sculpt Society app…
I love CBD drops for anxiety…
…but I didn’t use them while I was pregnant. I also take multivitamins and Seed’s probiotics.
On a ‘bad’ face day…
Water and movement help me to limit jet lag
When I’m traveling, I really try to stay hydrated throughout the flight and always get in some kind of TSS movement. TSS doesn’t require a lot of space or equipment, so you can always squeeze in a workout.
The Sculpt Society has changed my body
It’s also changed my mind on how I approach fitness. It’s such a fun and effective way of working out and I love how it makes me feel.
I don’t subscribe to diets
In my early twenties I did every fad diet and fast you can think of, and it negatively affected my relationship with food. It wasn't until I found intuitive eating that things shifted for me. I now listen to my body and eat the foods that make me feel the best. There is no magic pill or diet out there – it is so important that we find a way of eating that makes us feel good.
The best advice I’ve been given is…
…“If you’re in the room, you belong in the room.” So many of us question our abilities, feel insecure, intimidated or experience imposter syndrome. I love how this encourages us to know that we belong.
IN THE EVENING
Sunday night is my self-care night
I’ve recently been doing gua sha at night – it’s not only super-relaxing, but I find it’s great for lymphatic drainage for my face. If I have time, I’ll do a hair serum and some kind of face mask, too. I really like Summer Fridays’ Jet Lag Mask, the masks by Kora Organics and Augustinus Bader’s The Body Cream.
I love a massage
When I lived in New York City, and before the pandemic, I would go to Chinatown almost every week. I also love an infrared sauna and I would try to go once or twice a month. I just got Higher Dose’s Infrared Sauna Blanket, so I am excited to use that post-pregnancy.
My best beauty tip is…
My pre-event prep is…
When I’m tired but wired…
On my nightstand…
…I have my phone – when you’re a small business owner, you’re always on call; Kiehl’s Buttermask for Lips – I tend to get dry lips at night and I love this balm; and water – I am always thirsty at night.
