7 Ways To Tone Your Arms
If you do only one form of exercise, make sure it’s push-ups
Not only do they work your whole arms, but they also incorporate multiple muscles, too. Push-ups can be done almost anywhere at any time – no cost or gym required. They’ll help to strengthen and define your arms, plus work the triceps (the backs of your arms) – an area that often demands special attention. If you are not able to do a full push-up in a straight-arm, front-plank position, it is just as effective to work from a knee-assisted stance instead.
Strength training and cardio workouts are the perfect combination
While strength training helps to develop, shape and define muscle, cardio is key to helping you shed fat – and make those muscles more visible.
Crawling can transform triceps
While it may look comical, mimicking animal crawling works particularly well on those stubborn triceps. Get down on the floor and crawl for 20 yards, propelling yourself forward without letting your knees touch the ground. Rest for 60 seconds and repeat as many times as you can.
Commitment gets the best results
Along with increasing your movement (cardio), drink more water and clean up your diet by eliminating processed, sugar-filled foods.
Dumbbells are the best way to work your arms
You can use them to train your biceps (at the front of your arms), triceps (at the back), forearms and shoulders, and, if you work towards building your shoulders, your arms will appear more defined, too. Choose a weight that will be challenging, but not to the point that it’s too difficult – you want to achieve 10-15 repetitions for 3-4 sets per exercise, so if you feel like you could do this all day, the weight is too light. When you get to the 15th repetition, the 16th shouldn’t be possible.
Lighter weights can still make a difference
If you want to sculpt your arms but not bulk up, avoid using heavy weights. Stick to 1-2lbs and increase your repetitions instead.
