The micro-trend: High-necked blouses

Fashion
BUTTON UP
Tuck your blouse into jeans like fashion director Justine Lee and model Vaida Mary Jane, or follow model McKenna Hellam’s lead and layer under a dress

If you want to dip your toe into the prim and proper waters of Victoriana without going full gothic heroine, then the high-necked blouse is your piece. To really chime with the mood, look for one in black or white, made from stiff cotton, chiffon or lace, with whatever level of ruffle you’re comfortable with. While you can always team it with heels and a skirt (short enough to reveal some leg to balance out the buttoned-up style), these blouses are more versatile than you might expect: Chloé’s crisp cotton version was styled for the runway with cropped flared pants and a red horse-print cord jacket. The sartorial world is your oyster.
