The Fashion Memo
The queue jump: Moncler 4 Simone Rocha
Since taking the helm of Moncler in 2003, fashion entrepreneur Remo Ruffini has turned the outerwear brand into a global powerhouse – and now he’s changing the way it does business. Ruffini has eradicated the traditional role of creative director in favor of ‘The Genius Project’; enlisting the world’s most pioneering and in-demand designers to produce one-of-a-kind capsule collections. The latest installment comes courtesy of the award-winning Simone Rocha, who has imbued Moncler’s signature down pieces with a lightness and femininity that belies their high-spec credentials. “I wanted to create a uniform of voluminous silhouettes and deconstructed proportions to create a new idea of feminine practicality,” explains Rocha. From the sculptural coats to the ruffled jackets, these singular designs are future classics.
