Beauty
Jamie Sherrill is a big fan of beauty tools and targeted skincare, but says eating and sleeping well are critical for a radiant complexion

First thing every morning, I hydrate, stretch and face roll

Drinking enough water is essential. The human body, including the skin, is made up of between 55 to 75 percent water, and keeping it hydrated is very important to our body function as well as skin health. Stretching keeps us young, flexible and vibrant, and face rolling is a great pick-me-up – do half your face for three minutes and you’ll definitely see the difference.

Moisturizing after a bath or shower is essential

The best time to apply your moisturizer is when the skin is damp, so you trap moisture on the surface. I like to use a at night, otherwise it can cause makeup to slide off and makes sunscreen less effective.

I’m a big fan of beauty tools

I love for increasing circulation, but rather than spending 20 minutes massaging in my products every day, a beauty tool does the same in a fraction of the time. I use my UpLift Massage Beauty Roller over my skin creams, working back and forth over the face. [Using it for just] a minute or two every day means your products are better absorbed into your skin, so they can do what they are designed to do.

You can make a lot of changes to your skin…

…by using the right products in the right way with a I can always tell if a patient is looking after their skin or not. A couple of times a week, apply the [reusable] silicon Nurse Jamie Face Wrap mask over your skincare, then use a face roller over the top. The Face Wrap makes a mask out of anything – a neck cream, night cream – and when I get patients to do this just once a week, I can see the difference within three months.

I gained 100lbs when pregnant with my triplets…

…and while I’m very happy with my arms now, if I’m wearing a sleeveless top, I still apply body lotion and spend a minute or two using my UpLift Body Massage Beauty Roller over the top. It makes the skin look so much better and improves the appearance of any lumps and bumps.

I try to avoid foods that cause inflammation…

…including processed foods like bread, potato chips, fried foods and dairy products. If I have certain foods, such as popcorn or wine, I get puffy. I do like using [to tackle this], but I use a device from the fridge, not the freezer – just having it chilled still gets rid of that puffiness.

I get lines on my upper lip

Although I have everything at my fingertips [in my clinic], I still use the Nurse Jamie Beauty Stamp – it’s a great little at-home microneedling tool. I keep it by my toothbrush and, two or three times a week, I work it over the skin around my lips. I can’t do Botox here as I would drool, and my lips are big enough already, so I don’t want filler, but this little stamp is great for building up the skin.

Your sleep position is the number 3 cause of premature aging

Sleeping on your stomach with your face pushed into the pillow might be the worst sleeping position – if you’ve ever woken up and noticed sleep marks on your face, you’ve had a preview of the wrinkles that are forming. Over time, sleeping on your side or your stomach will produce unwanted sleep lines and wrinkles, so sleeping on your back is a good way to reduce sleep-related lines and wrinkles, as well as allowing fluid to drain properly and preventing puffiness.

My essentials for good skin are…

…eat well, sleep well on the right pillow (a silk pillowcase is best), take off all your makeup at night, and use good-quality products. Home regimes matter as much as in-spa treatments.
