Beauty

IN THE MORNING

As soon as I wake up…

…I head straight for my coffee. I like to start my day with some quiet time and think about things that I’m grateful for. It’s important that I’m able to slow down and reflect in the morning before jumping into a busy day.

My skin can be puffy…

…so the first thing I do is wash my face in cold water and do a facial massage with a face roller, which calms any fluid retention. I use vitamin C serums and detoxifying toners to brighten my skin if it’s looking tired. Hydration is key, so I love to apply my Elaluz Beauty Oil for that extra nourishment my skin needs – it’s perfect to use as a primer before makeup.

On a ‘bad’ skin day…

…I always make sure to drink a lot of water. I try not to touch my skin or use extra products – and I think it’s important to simplify what I do, rather than add more steps. I’ll use a favorite serum or a hydrating face mask and give my skin a break from products and makeup.

I supercharge my water…

…by adding a slice of lemon, one teaspoon of cinnamon and a few slices of ginger. It accelerates metabolism, keeps my skin clear and helps to burn fat. Every day, I take The Beauty Chef supplements for my skin, hair and nails, to give my body a boost of antioxidants.

My secret to perfect selfie skin…

…is great lighting and the By Terry Cellularose CC Brightening Lumi Serum. I prep my skin with this before I film or shoot images for my Instagram account. It blurs skin and makes anything I put on top look super-luminous, and I use the Elaluz All Day Beauty Water before and after I apply my makeup to lock the moisture in and keep my skin glowing throughout the day – I’m obsessed with glowing skin. My Lip & Cheek Stain is perfect for a natural flush; I use it by itself every day and as a great base for a full-makeup look. I love to use the 24K Lip Therapy on top for some extra shine – and I also wear it overnight, as it’s deeply hydrating for the lips.

I don’t have a special diet…

…but I do swear by eating a lot of fruit; my mom always told me to eat my fruit and vegetables – so I do! I also make sure to incorporate a lot of protein in my diet because of my fast metabolism. I do eat healthily, but I definitely don’t deprive myself of treats here and there.

IN THE EVENING

Once a week, I have my own ‘home spa’…

…where I take a long bath with Pursoma Bath Soak and use the Sarah Chapman Skinesis Liquid Facial Resurfacer. After that, I’ll put on a hydrating hair and face mask and relax. It’s important to take care of yourself and a home spa really helps me do that, especially in these stressful times.

One thing we Brazilians love is…

…making homemade masks for skin and hair. For a nourishing hair mask, mash up half an avocado with 10ml of coconut oil, 10ml of argan oil and one teaspoon of honey, then leave it on your hair for 20 minutes. You’ll have super-soft hair afterwards.

When I travel…

…a good, hydrating face mask is a non-negotiable – both during and after the flight – to restore all the lost moisture. The Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask is my go-to before I put makeup back on – it’s full of nourishing vitamins. I make a conscious effort to drink more water and take vitamins when traveling, which also helps with jet-lag. I avoid taking naps in order to adjust my body clock to the local time. If I push through my day, I’ll be exhausted by my new local night time, so will be able to fall asleep normally wherever I am.

My secret to great legs…

…is a highlighting body bronzer. This gives a beautiful glow to the skin, and I mix it in with body lotion so it looks more subtle and natural. I also keep my legs toned by having regular deep-tissue massages. I hold a lot of excess water weight when I fly a lot, so massages keep my legs lean.

The best advice I’ve been given…

…is to “believe in your inner light”. When I was struggling with my epilepsy, my mom shared this with me. Everyone has their own individual, inner light – and if you let it shine, you are going to be stronger, more confident and more willing to accept yourself as you are. It’s been a guiding principle in my life.

I consider myself a perfectionist…

…and that sometimes brings added anxiety, which can cause me to lose sleep as my mind will just continuously wander.

When I can’t fall asleep…

…I use meditation. Right now, I have a lot going on and I need my mind to relax at night, in order to fall asleep and get a good night’s rest. I love the Headspace app, which helps me relax my mind and body and has trained me to become more comfortable with the practice of meditation.
