Your Personal Shopper Loves… Veerali Shares Her Tips For A Chic And Cozy Winter Wardrobe
Get to know the tastes and styling tips of NET-A-PORTER’s Personal Shoppers as they reveal what’s on their Wish List this season – and how they will be wearing their picks. Here, Veerali, from our UK and Middle East team, shares the coats, knits and cozy accessories she will be wrapping up in all winter long
Winter whites
“For some, ultra-bright colors, such as reds or saffron yellows, are the dopamine hit they need when cold weather arrives and nothing but frosty temperatures are forecast. But, for me, there is something so refreshing and chic about winter whites. I love wearing multiple layers to create a soft yet elevated look – and you will often find me reaching for a chunky sweater in pale ivory, or chalk hues, from fall onwards. My snug turtlenecks are usually knitted from pure cashmere or wool because I think natural materials are always a smart, lasting investment. After teaming my knit of choice with jeans, or tonal tailored pants, and stacks of Diane Kordas ‘Evil Eye’ jewelry to break up the neutrals, I will slip on some loafers, like Loro Piana’s ‘Open Walk’ style. The perfect final layer? A white shearling jacket or a long maxi coat.”
Cozy accessories
“Last but not least, you can never have too many plush, cozy accessories on hand to grab during the winter months. Chunky fringed scarves are my go-to because I enjoy the blissful feeling of wrapping up in them, and it’s good to have both plain neutrals and lively-patterned styles in your collection to suit different outfits and occasions. Something more classic and muted would work for an evening event, whereas a patterned style can instantly lift more casual staples. Leather gloves always make for an elegant final addition, in the same way that Dior Eyewear’s oversized sunglasses do on days where the rain stays away.”
Bags of style
“Fellow accessories aficionados will know how much joy a fun new piece of arm candy can bring – I often fill my Wish List with the season’s new colors and textures. Running with the shearling theme, I love Loewe’s fuzzy ‘Flamenco’ bag; although the slightly squishy, gathered shape looks just as good in smooth leather. Brunello Cucinelli’s faux-fur shoulder bags have a nice fluffiness to them as well, which complements equally soft textures or something contrasting, like crisp cotton. Bags are such an easy way to inject a pop of color into your winter whites, too. For FW23, I would go for a warm honey-beige, a deep cherry, or a more unexpected light pink – because pastels aren’t just for spring.”
