The beauty game changer: A filter for your skin
Want glowing, vibrant, supermodel-like skin? The latest complexion booster from makeup guru Charlotte Tilbury promises exactly that. CHANELLE HO tries it out
The low-down
When it comes to beauty, we’re all on a seemingly endless quest to find the secret to thicker hair, longer lashes and naturally glowing skin. Well, the latter is now yours for the taking, by way of the new Hollywood Flawless Filter from Charlotte Tilbury; an incredibly flattering, pore-smoothing primer/highlighter hybrid. It comes in an impressive seven shades, but unlike most highlighters, they are all skin-toned, so they look just like your natural complexion – only much better. Having perfected it over 25 years ago (and kept it secret until now), Tilbury now uses it on her A-list clients (including Alessandra Ambrosio, Kendall Jenner and Amal Clooney), whose skin needs to look as good on camera as it does off. “The camera picks up everything, and in the age of high definition, megapixels become a mega-pore nightmare. This was my solution,” says Tilbury.
How to use it
However you want – that’s the beauty of it. Wear it on moisturized, bare skin for that fresh-from-a-facial glow, or use it as a brightening primer underneath foundation (it’ll create a blurred, filter-like effect to give skin an even but natural-looking luminosity). You can also use it to customize your base by mixing it in for more radiance, or apply it as you would a normal highlighter on the high points of the face. But this isn’t for strobing – instead of a shimmering, glittery finish, this creates a low-gleam skin polish that bounces off the skin beautifully.
The expert tip
The unusual texture is in-between a cream and liquid – it’s not too firm or too fluid, making it easy to apply and blend in. For a seamless complexion, work it into the skin little by little with a damp Beautyblender sponge or a small, dense buffing brush, layering it up until you reach your desired glow.
