Cherero Camp promises an intimate safari experience in the Serengeti – the thoughtful design feels both deeply connected to nature and effortlessly refined

UGANDA AND TANZANIA, Victoria Newton-Syms, content manager

“After a year of loss and reflection, I’ve booked a bucket-list trip to Uganda for a once-in-a-lifetime experience: gorilla trekking. Seeing these majestic, endangered creatures in the wild has always been a dream, and I can’t wait to immerse myself in the misty, jungle-clad landscapes of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. I’ll be staying at Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge, a secluded retreat perched high in the hills, where cozy cottages overlook the Virunga volcanoes. Waking up to the sounds of the rainforest and trekking through ancient undergrowth in search of a gorilla family will be nothing short of extraordinary. After three nights in Uganda, I’ll fly to Tanzania for a safari at Cherero Camp in the Serengeti. With just six beautifully crafted tented suites and a light footprint powered entirely by solar energy, it’s the perfect base for exploring this iconic wilderness. The camp offers walking safaris and hot-air balloon rides, so experiencing the Serengeti from a different perspective – whether on foot or soaring above the plains at sunrise – would be truly unforgettable. And beyond the wildlife, I can’t wait to witness those breathtaking Serengeti sunsets.”

The Peligoni Club is a barefoot luxury beach resort that provides laid-back vibes, delicious food and serene settings

ZAKYNTHOS & PATMOS, GREECE Alice Casely-Hayford, content director

“I visited Greece for the first time a few years ago for my best friend’s wedding. We island-hopped between Mykonos and Andros, and I was completely enchanted by the food, the vistas, the atmosphere and the people. For the last two summers, we have returned to Greece but headed to Zakynthos. These vacations were slightly different to the trips my husband and I used to take; now that we have two small children, the constant quest is to find a location that is family-friendly yet doesn’t compromise on style, relaxation and good food. For that reason, we chose The Peligoni Club, which was highly recommended by friends who want fun for parents and kids in equal measure. A beautiful boutique hotel with plenty of activities for everyone, it provided the most glorious stay, and we will be booking to go back and discover more of Greece’s island magic.”

Austrian mountain retreat Eriro is a luxurious, nature-first escape in the Tyrolean Alps

AUSTRIA, Katie Berrington, senior editor

“My 2025 wish list keeps changing: long weekends in Paris, New York and Rome; seeing the Northern Lights in Finland or Norway; exploring rainforests and beaches in Costa Rica; an Italian road trip… However, top of that list is a trip to Austria, although I’m equally conflicted trying to map out an itinerary. I would love to visit the soaring new boutique hotel Eriro, which has only nine bedrooms and is situated high up in the Alps, accessible only by cable car. The views look absolutely astounding and the wood-and-stone interiors evoke an instant sense of calm (even through my phone screen). Additionally, Innsbruck and Salzberg are both beautiful cities that I’d like to do an extended stop in. Rosewood Schloss Fuschl, to the east of the latter, is another stunning recent hotel opening, encircled by forest and mountains and on the shore of Lake Fuschl, where a 15th-century castle has been revived as a present-day fairy-tale setting. I’m dreaming of sitting on the terrace of one of their lake-front chalets, soaking up the restorative surrounds.”

The interiors of Eriro are designed with stone, locally sourced wood and other natural materials, creating an atmosphere of timeless luxury that blends seamlessly with an authentic Alpine experience
Hotel Corazón’s 15 linen-draped rooms feature unique designs in soft pink, sage and ochre, with interiors inspired by the 1970s organic architecture movement
The elegant deep blue pool offers a dreamlike retreat with ocean and mountain views, perfect for lounging and sunset watching

MALLORCA, Olivia Wakefield, senior entertainment editor

“Hotel Corazon has been on my bucket list since the second it opened its doors in 2019. Hidden in the Tramuntana mountains, halfway between Deia and Soller, it’s out-and-out Balearic bliss. The owner, artist Kate Bellm, has brought a gorgeous bohemian touch to the spot. The rosemary-lined pool is surrounded by Dr. Seuss-like oversized thatch umbrellas, while the rooms are all raw plaster, earthy linens and terracotta, offset with 1970s details like kidney-shaped sofas and sunken beds. It’s Graceland-meets-Mallorca and I’m absolutely here for it.”

Ett Hem blends warmth with sophisticated design, combining vintage furniture, soft textiles and a refined color palette for an inviting, homely feel
The patio garden is a serene escape, with lush greenery and intimate seating areas, creating a peaceful oasis perfect for relaxation

STOCKHOLM, Gillian Brett, head of fashion content

“In 2020, I had a trip to Stockholm planned that remains on my ‘to be rescheduled’ list. Five years on and I’m still dreaming about a stay at Ett Hem (which translates as ‘a home’ in Swedish) in the pretty Lärkstan neighborhood. Owner Jeanette Mix worked with British interior designer Ilse Crawford to thoughtfully create a welcoming and relaxing ambiance in this elegant yet laid-back red-brick townhouse. What began as just 12 rooms and suites expanded in 2022 into two neighboring townhouses to offer a total of 22 rooms and three long-stay apartments – available from two weeks up to six months. While I sadly don’t think I could manage to escape for half the year, I would love at least a weekend break, where I’d start my day with yoga in the basement, then head to the library, perusing the shelves before indulging in a delicious lunch in the serene conservatory. Tranquillity with a side of chic Scandi interiors puts Ett Hem at the very top of my 2025 must-visit list.”
