Model Lara Worthington’s Everyday Beauty And Wellness Routine

Australian model and entrepreneur LARA WORTHINGTON shares the one product she can’t live without, her sun rules to maintain a youthful glow, and the skin-firming hack she got from Kate Moss

Beauty
Lara Worthington sticks to a low-maintenance haircare routine by leaving it to air-dry and adding texture by tucking it behind her ears

The first thing I do when I wake up is…

…have a shower, steam and scrub. I dry-brush some mornings if I need more of a pick-me-up. I use Aesop Geranium Leaf Body Scrub in the shower – I’m obsessed with geranium. My morning routine also includes a green juice – it’s the quickest way I know to get that hit of nutrients. I make mine at home and it’s super-simple – just celery and a touch of lemon. I can’t have coffee on an empty stomach – it’s way too harsh for me.

I wash my hair every day because it’s so fine

I use Christophe Robin’s Copper Hair Mask, as it nourishes my hair and refreshes the color. I also have a beautiful Mason Pearson brush that I love and take everywhere with me. My friend had it engraved with my initials for me – and I’ll take my initials on anything! I never, ever blow-dry my hair; I always let it air-dry, so I have to allow time for that in the morning. And for texture, I tuck it behind my ears whilst wet or twist the ends with my fingers.

I’d happily only use one product for the rest of my life

Emma Lewisham’s Skin Reset Concentrated Even Skin Tone Serum is my absolute favorite product. I have noticed real improvements in pigmentation, fine lines, and my skin’s hydration. I love the texture! My skin can get quite dry from travel, or during the cooler months in New York, so I use the Emma Lewisham Supernatural 72-Hour Hydration Face Crème to keep my skin hydrated and calm. I also use pure tea-tree oil for breakouts.

I stay out of the sun

I used to be a real sun-worshipper, but I try to avoid it – or cover up as much as possible – now. During the day, I always use an SPF – I love Emma Lewisham’s Skin Shield SPF30. Drinking water is guaranteed to help with good skin, too. It sounds so simple but, if you slowly sip roughly a liter of water over a 15-minute period, you will feel a huge difference. That or Kate Moss’s famous face-in-an-ice-bath remedy works for me.

I prefer a bath over a shower in the evenings

I love Susanne Kaufmann’s bath oils and salts – especially because they come in glass packaging, as I try to avoid plastic as much as I can. My family and I are very focused on curbing daily habits to be as mindful as possible. Recycling and being thoughtful about our daily consumption are the small things that make a big difference. I also love Soft Services’ Buffing Bar – a microcrystal physical exfoliator. It’s made my skin so much smoother.

When it comes to party makeup…

…if I’m going to apply anything, I’ll mess around with my lips. My favorite is the La Bouche Rouge Le Rouge Chloë [Sevigny] lipstick. It’s the perfect mix between vibrant red and orange. I’m also relaunching my beauty brand next year and am having so much fun playing with all of the samples. It’s very colorful and fun, but that’s all I can say for now!

I always take my makeup off before bed

It’s a non-negotiable step for me. After cleansing my skin, I usually opt for a light moisturizer because I think it’s important to let my skin breathe while I sleep. I do not mask enough, but Emma Lewisham’s Supernatural Sleeping Mask is the best. It works while you sleep to rebuild your skin’s barrier.

When in New York, I do 10,000 to 15,000 steps a day…

…sometimes without even realizing. Other than walking, Pilates is my favorite form of exercise. I have a Pilates reformer machine at home and I use the Core Club Pilates by Amanda and Forma Pilates apps, both at home and when I travel. I’ve also been spending a lot of time in Paris recently, where my friend Charlotte Chesnais suggested trying out bhanda yoga. I also love surfing whenever I can.

To avoid jet lag…

…I use Lypricel Vitamin C packets, diluted in water. I’ve found this to be transformative for my skin after long-haul flights. I also swear by bath houses. After I land, I try to find a local bath house for a steam, scrub, sauna and ice bath. There isn’t a bath house I haven’t loved.

I’ve been a vegetarian for 10 years

My husband and children are vegetarian too, which makes meal-prep a lot easier. I also find seasonal fasting can be really effective to help me feel my best.

Growing up, my mom was very strict about sunscreen application

This was even in the early ’90s when a golden tan was the pinnacle of youth and a well-lived life. She always instilled that good sun protection is the most important thing you can do to preserve your skin.

As a mom of three boys, my sleep at night is treasured

For my skin, energy, focus and general mood, I find a good night’s sleep means more now than ever. I try to do the ‘no-screens’ thing, but it’s difficult, given that we do so much on our phones – including reading. I like drinking a small cup of sleep-inducing herbal tea, too. It’s a great way to get to sleep without any day-after drowsiness.
