Tash Oakley’s AM/PM routine
Australian-born, LA-based TASH OAKLEY knows a thing or ten about looking good in a bikini – and it’s not all about exercise. The creative director of label Monday Swimwear – of which Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner are fans – shares her travel tips, healthy diet essentials and super-easy daily therapy treatment
IN THE MORNING
My skincare routine is all about hydration…
…I love Fresh’s Soy Face Cleanser as it’s gentle and doesn’t dry out my skin, followed by La Mer The Revitalizing Hydrating Serum and The Moisturizing Soft Cream. I travel eight months out of the year so I like to keep it simple.
I live by Aussie beauty rules…
…which means keeping everything natural and dewy and avoiding matte textures at all costs. I’ve used the same tinted moisturizer for six years; it has a slight shimmer so my skin’s always glowing. I keep my eyes warm with Charlotte Tilbury’s The Golden Goddess palette and lots of mascara. Then bronzer, a bit of highlight and a nude-tinted lip balm.
I’m useless at doing my hair…
…so I admire every girl who has the dedication to wake up and style theirs. I don’t even know how to curl it, so I’m lucky that it’s naturally got great texture. The most I’ll do is spritz Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray through it. But I think with good color you can get away with anything and I have the most amazing colorist, Matt Rez at Mèche Salon in Beverly Hills.
I spend a lot of time in a bikini…
…and to maintain great skin on my body I go to the Beverly Hot Springs spa in LA every two months for a full body scrub and skin-conditioning massage, and I moisturize every day with La Mer The Body Crème. For shoots, I slather my body in shimmering body oil. But, ultimately, what really makes you look good in a bikini is having the confidence to wear what you want.
IN THE EVENING
My diet changed my skin…
I don’t feel guilty if I skip a workout…
…because I know I eat well and will train that much harder the next day. If I don’t do any exercise I’ll at least do some stretching. I workout 3-4 times a week using the Body By Gilles program. My ex-boyfriend [Gilles Souteyrand] created it; he’s an incredible trainer and it’s just a 30-minute workout to fit into your schedule.
I’m a sucker for massages…
…I love to relax with a massage when I can. The Caudalie spas are my favorite and the products are amazing too; I take the brand’s Beauty Elixir spray with me everywhere. The Now is my favorite massage spot in Los Angeles, and if I’m in London I’ll find a spa that uses Aromatherapy Associates oils – they are the best.
A bath is my therapy…
…it’s so important to me that even when I travel, I only book hotel rooms that have a tub. I travel with Epsom bath salts and Aromatherapy Associates bath oils. Traveling on a plane all the time gives me such bad, achy joints that it’s a great way to relax. And it doesn’t hurt to have a glass of wine with it, too…
I travel with crystals…
…and believe that it’s all about what you put into the universe and staying positive. I always have a few crystals in my purse: black onyx for protection; serpentine for inner peace; and tiger’s eye to balance my mood. I don’t meditate but my new ‘me time’ is actually on a plane. It’s a time for me to be by myself; nobody can contact me and I’m not glued to my phone.
