8 Supermodels On How They Start Their Day
From CLAUDIA SCHIFFER’s nourishing oil treatment to MIRANDA KERR’s shower hack and ROSIE HUNTINGTON-WHITELEY’s face-icing ritual, here’s how the ‘supers’ start their day. By NEWBY HANDS

“I have dates and a cup of decaf coffee with homemade almond milk, then I read the news on Medium. Next, I check my emails and write a to-do list before the day starts. My skincare tends to be the same regardless of the time of year – I start with Bamford Cleansing Balm, followed by the Refining Exfoliator. Depending on how dry my complexion is, I mix my moisturizing cream with different oils and massage it into my skin. If I feel a bit puffy, I drink more water and stop eating anything with milk or wheat; a brisk 30-minute walk outside always helps, too – plus a good concealer.”
Christy Turlington
“As soon as I wake up, I let the dogs out, make coffee, and wake my son up for school. Once he is out the door, I start the day by washing my face with Noble Panacea The Elemental Cleansing Balm and Exfoliating Refiner, followed by Noble Panacea’s The Absolute Active Replenishing Moisturizer to give my skin the added hydration and nourishment it needs. I then get dressed, check my schedule and emails, and start my Zooms.”
Miranda Kerr
“My husband wakes up at 5.30am, which means I wake up, too. I used to immediately check my emails, which began the day in a chaotic way. Now, I keep my cell on airplane mode and have a good hour to myself before the kids wake up at 6.30am; I do a 20-minute meditation, a few stretches, take a shower and get ready for the day. It makes a big difference, as otherwise I have no time to myself. I dry-body brush everywhere – I’ve done it for 10 years and it gets me energized, and it’s good for the circulation and lymph system; on an energetic level, it’s quite clearing. I then jump in the shower and use the Kora Organics Foaming Cleanser and the Turmeric Brightening and Exfoliating Mask. I often run the shower cold, too, as it’s a good kick-start for the day.”
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley
“As soon as I wake up, I try to figure out the latest I can get out of bed – if my children haven’t woken up, I have another 10 minutes. I look at my skin daily to see what it really needs, but I do use the iS Clinical Cleansing Complex, and I love applying a light-reflecting brightening serum under makeup. I always moisturize [my body] with the Kaya Jungle Firming Body Oil by Costa Brazil, too, as I really love the scent. I find icing is great to take down any puffiness or acne; I keep cooling globes in the fridge. LED therapy is also really beneficial for me, and I often sneak off to the bedroom to lie under the red and blue lights [to treat] acne and heal any scars.”
Winnie Harlow
“I check my phone and brush my teeth. I have a quick morning regimen: first, I pull my hair back with a Slip hair tie and, if it’s a wash day, I put a treatment on my hair to sit, like one by Olaplex. For my skin, I use Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream, followed by Dr. Barbara Sturm’s SPF Sun Drops and, finally, a light spritz of Baccarat Rouge 540 scent by Maison Francis Kurkdjian. If I’m going to be traveling, I’ll do a full skincare session at home before the flight, too – your skin will thank you for the extra love.”
Anja Rubik
“I light a candle every morning – I’m addicted to Matter & Home, as each candle has properties that help to shift the environment while they burn and can really influence your mood. I connect with the present moment by not looking at my phone for the first 20 minutes of the day, whereas it used to be the first thing I checked when I woke up. Now I focus on where I am, how I feel and what is around me, which is especially useful for jet-lag if I’ve been traveling. I also do a handstand – I only hold it for one minute, but it’s a good way to wake up and get your blood flowing.”
Pritika Swarup
“I stretch and try to do a guided meditation to center my mind, but my thoughts often get into my sessions. Less is more for my skin, but if I have more time, I use a mask while I do emails. There are so many traditional remedies that I’ve used since I was younger, like mixing honey, lemon, turmeric, yogurt and chickpea flour, and leaving it on my face for 15 minutes – turmeric is a great antiseptic for breakouts. Every day I take half a teaspoonful of turmeric mixed with clarified butter and black pepper; it’s something my mom [taught me] – she has always used traditional Ayurvedic remedies.”
Helena Christensen
“I wake at around 7.30am, feed my dog Kuma and then take her for a walk to my local coffee bar – my favorite breakfast is porridge cooked with milk and topped off with banana, brown sugar and a big lump of melting butter in the middle. I always make my bed up first thing – it’s a great feeling getting into a perfectly made bed, so even on the coldest of days, I air out my room and shake out my comforter and pillows. I like to take my time with my skin, so, [after cleansing], I use Joanna Vargas Rescue Serum, Lumity Skin Nutrients Facial Oil and moisturize with Nimue a.i Day Cream. I use coconut oil on my body and, if I’m working from home, I love to apply a facemask, too.”
