The body finishers
Depending on what I am wearing – and how much skin I’ll be showing – my focus is invariably on my body. Even after applying self-tan (Tan-Luxe Hydra Mousse mixed with body lotion is my go-to) to warm up my skin tone, it’s that difference in texture between the body’s drier skin and the well-cared-for skin on the face that really shows up when you’re wearing a strapless or backless dress, or baring your arms or legs. My trick is to use a body oil before I get in the bath or shower (it stops skin from getting too dry) and then, after semi-drying, I apply a mix of body oil and body cream – Sisley Black Rose Beautifying Emulsion and Susanne Kaufmann Toning Body Serum are both excellent. My most recent discovery is Chantecaille’s Gold Recovery Mask, which really plumps up skin and leaves a very beautiful sheen, too. It’s such a great texture – creamy, but not heavy or too rich – that I apply it to my chest, shoulders, backs of my hands, even down the front on the shins (one of the driest parts of the body), and leave it for five minutes before massaging it in rather than removing it. Afterwards, it looks like you’ve had a spa treatment.” Newby Hands, global beauty director
The eye enhancers
My eyes are such a key part of my look during the holidays. I always want to look less tired and I’ve recently become obsessed with Kora Organics’ Berry Bright Vitamin C Eye Cream, which really helps to brighten under my eyes and provides the perfect base for concealer. Next, I apply my go-to liquid eyeliner by Chantecaille – I find a pen provides better precision for a perfect cat eye. I follow by using an eyelash curler before applying mascara, as it really helps to create the bounce you need to ensure your lashes last all evening. For me, a red lip pulls my look together and my favorite is Gucci’s Rouge à Lèvres Mat Lipstick in Goldie Red, which elevates my skin after just one coat. Rosie Jameson, senior buyer
The party-hair heroes
Holiday season or not, I am all about time-saving hacks, and never more so than when it comes to my hair. Hair routines are so personal; type and length all play a part in what you choose to use, but I think we can all agree that everyone is in search of shine. After I wash my hair – using Philip B Forever Shine Shampoo and Conditioner – I religiously use the mother of all classics Oribe Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil to lock in its reparative oils, smooth strands and kick-start serious shine (I also smooth it onto dry hair whenever my ends need a pick-me-up). It definitely cuts down on drying time, and even allows me to air dry my hair into a well-tamed wave. I am liberal with how much I use, especially in the winter months when cold snaps combine with air-con to wreak havoc on most people’s hair, whatever type. Once dry, I spray with the backstage favorite Oribe Superfine Hairspray or, for special occasions, I treat just the mid-lengths to a potent drop of Hair Rituel By Sisley’s Precious Hair Care Oil for a last-minute dose of dazzling shine. The glow-getters
As a first-time mother, ‘glam’ isn’t really a word in my daily repertoire right now. Nights out are minimal, so on the rare occasion I do leave the house in the evening, it’s in a whirlwind. While I’m currently forgoing nails, bold eyes or lips, allowing time to create a flawless, glowing complexion really makes me feel more like myself. Victoria Beckham Beauty’s Victoria Beckham by Augustinus Bader Cell Rejuvenating Priming Moisturizer revives my skin and makes it look like I’ve had the best night’s sleep. Part-skincare, part-makeup, its combination of actives and peptides ensure my complexion looks and feels impressively plumped. Then, I mix a pipette of Dr. Barbara Sturm’s Glow Drops into whatever tinted moisturizer I can find… et voilà! It’s not much, but I feel like a new woman afterwards and my complexion is transformed. I really tap and massage the products into my skin, too, giving myself a mini facial that helps to sculpt the face, while also allowing me five precious minutes of me-time. The skincare saviors
With any party look, I always prioritize my skin because it makes such a difference to my makeup and its staying power. To start, I gently cleanse using Dr. Barbara Sturm Cleanser, which is quickly followed by a layer of Sisley Radiant Glow Express Mask if I’m running short on time. My skin is super-sensitive, so I use Dr. Sebagh Serum Repair before applying my can’t-live-without Supergoop! Glowscreen SPF30 as a primer – although it’s technically a sunscreen, the glow it gives adds a healthy radiance to skin without the shimmer. Heena Mohammed, senior merchandiser
