What These Style Insiders Will Be Wearing To Copenhagen Fashion Week
As fashion editors, trendsetters and tastemakers from around the globe descend on the Danish capital for a four-day showcase of the best design talent Copenhagen has to offer, we caught up with Mona M. Ali, the Stockholm-based founder and CEO of inclusive model agency Fiiri, and Isis-Maria Niedecken, a Berlin-based artist, to discover what they’ll be packing for the front row – plus their in-the-know hot spots to grab lunch between shows…

“For work, I usually go to every single show [at Copenhagen Fashion Week], but this time around I’ll try to be more selective. I’ll prioritize the shows where our models from Fiiri [a diverse and inclusive model and creative agency] are walking, as well as some of the brands that I have a relationship with. I’ll be incorporating a lot of color into my looks – I’ll wear some suits, colorful coats and try to walk the line between comfortable and sexy. I’ll also try out some dark eyes and edgy makeup looks to balance out the colorful clothing.
“Be bold, wear color, experiment with prints and shapes! And don’t be afraid to show off some skin
”
“I tend to wear exactly what I want, when I want – I can’t tolerate the idea that some items are only supposed to be worn for certain occasions and that they would waste away in the darkness of my closet. Be bold, wear color, experiment with prints and shapes! And don’t be afraid to show off some skin. You also won’t know what looks good on you until you try it – so try it!
“We’re planning a get-together for our models at Fiiri; we did it last year and it was so much fun to see everybody. Aside from attending events, I’ll focus on my agency and a few collaborations I have going on. For some quiet time, I like going to Glyptoteket [museum] – I bring a sketchbook and draw the statues. As for hotspots, Osteria 16 is a nice place to eat. I love the vibes at Refshaleøen [food market] in the summer, and the coffee shops in Christianshavn have a relaxed vibe that I enjoy. Pho Hanoi has some of the best Vietnamese food outside of Vietnam, Gaza Grill in Kødbyen is delicious, and The Union Kitchen is a great lunch place.”
“I feel like you can never go wrong with a timeless oversized coat and a good pair of sunglasses – they can elevate any look

“I’ll go to Copenhagen with a few of my friends, so it will be a nice mix of work and quality time. I’ve really fallen in love with the city and the people, and can’t wait to go back. I love seeing all the fashion lovers at the shows – and, as a former fashion student, I can really appreciate a good collection. Ever since I got into fashion, I’ve had a huge admiration for Ganni. I’ve always loved the brand’s fun collections and adored its approach to sustainability. Having one of my paintings hanging in the Ganni store in Berlin is a dream come true.
“As it’s January, and Copenhagen will most likely be even colder than Berlin, there will be a lot of layering happening [in my looks]. I love a dress-over-pants pairing and can’t live without an oversized coat. In my everyday life, I rarely take the time for special beauty looks, but I love an occasion to try new things. I’ll definitely bring some rhinestones – I’ve been wanting to try the rhinestone-eyeliner look for a long time now. I feel like Fashion Week is always a fun occasion to wear the pieces that are too extra for everyday life – especially for me; because I paint during the day and have an almost-three-year-old, my everyday looks are mostly denim and a sweater, so I’m excited to have some fun with my looks.
“I feel like you can never go wrong with a timeless oversized coat and a good pair of sunglasses – they can elevate any look. I’ve been wearing the same Max Mara coat for the past five years now, and will probably never stop wearing it – it’s such an iconic and timeless coat, and is perfect for layering. I just bought a pair of blue Lexxola sunglasses and can’t wait to wear them to Copenhagen. Also, my light green Ganni coat has been waiting to be worn out.
“While I’m at Copenhagen Fashion Week, I would really love to go to Kunsthal Charlottenborg [the exhibition space] and have a drink at Apollo Bar & Kantine. I had a reservation at Esmée [restaurant] last time I was in Copenhagen, but didn’t make it because my job took longer than expected, so I would love to go there this time around.”
