Kristen Noel Crawley’s AM/PM routine
The LA-based founder of KNC Beauty (and its cult-status, Insta-star lip and eye masks) reveals how she starts and finishes her day…
IN THE MORNING
I dry brush my skin…
…to invigorate it. I love to feel energized when I wake up, so I drink warm water with lemon and do some stretches, followed by a bicycle ride around the neighborhood with my two sons.
I follow Dr. Barbara Sturm’s skincare regimen…
…I splash cold water on my face and use her cleanser, followed by the Hyaluronic Serum, then mix her Sun Drops into La Mer Moisturizing Cool Gel Cream, which has a light texture that suits the hot climate here in my hometown of LA.
I have a little black book of beauty hotspots…
…I go to the Ann Karen Day Spa in Arcadia once a month for a full-body scrub and wrap. Facialist Joanna Vargas has opened The Spa at Sunset Tower, and I also see her when I visit NYC, or I’ll book into the Spa de La Mer at the Baccarat Hotel. Joanna Czech is another favorite facialist of mine, based in Dallas.
I love wearing colorful makeup…
…if it goes with my outfit. I normally stick to a natural daytime look, but I love to experiment with colorful eyeshadow and liquid eyeliner, or a bright pink or red lip – though never both at once. I always wear gold gel liner from Marc Jacobs in the inner corner of my eyes to make them pop, and whether I’m wearing natural or full-coverage foundation, I always use Sisley Paris Instant Eclat underneath to illuminate my skin.
I like to experiment with braids and weaves…
IN THE EVENING
I give myself an at-home facial four times a week…
…I use a facial steamer by Dr. Dennis Gross to open my pores and apply a gentle peel twice a week, using a dermaroller to push the product into my skin. I always use a hydrating serum and La Mer The Concentrate mixed in with Dr. Barbara Sturm Darker Skin Tones Face Cream. If I’m not doing a peel, I use my favorite sheet mask instead, Twilight by Joanna Vargas. Sometimes I’ll do a cream mask to detox, using the African Botanics Marula Mineral Cleansing Mask.
I supercharge my eye treatments…
…by placing a self-heating gel eye pad over the top, which you can get in most pharmacies. The occlusive effect along with the warmth pushes the product deeper into the skin. If I need a quick fix, I’ll use my KNC All Natural Retinol Infused Eye Mask to instantly de-puff and hydrate the area.
I apply my KNC All Natural Collagen Infused Lip Mask every night…
…I first discovered lip sheet masks on a trip to Tokyo but upon reading the ingredients, I found that they were full of chemicals, or weren’t very user-friendly. I formulated my own natural alternative that’s truly good for you (as well as fun to use).
I take care of my body as much as I take care of my face…
…African Botanics Marula Detoxifying Salt and Sugar Body Scrub is a great, gritty exfoliator, and for a relaxing bath I use Susanne Kaufmann Essential Bath Oil For The Senses. I’ve started doing a body peel once a week with True Botanicals Resurfacing Body Mask, and I’m obsessive about applying Sisley Paris Cellulinov Intensive Anti-Cellulite Body Care on my legs and bottom each night – it’s made such a big difference.
I take getting nine hours of sleep very seriously…
…My bedside table has an aromatic diffuser (I use lavender and rosemary to calm) and two Himalayan salt rocks, which clear the air so that you’re sleeping in a better atmosphere. I also take Dr. Barbara Sturm Skin Food and Repair Food supplements with a ‘sleep’ tea every night and love falling asleep wearing my Slip Eye Mask, lying on my Slip Silk Pillowcase.
