BEFORE THE PARTY

I’m really into hydra facials…

…because they aren’t abrasive so I don’t have to worry about breaking out, they just give you that extra hydration so your makeup goes on better. It’s interesting, though, because I could have clear skin then get invited to a major event and bam! my skin plays me. When that happens, I spot treat with tea tree oil as it tends to dry up my spots fast, and then use the La Mer The Hydrating Facial sheet mask.

For amazing Insta-skin that works IRL too…

…I put MAC Strobe Cream all over the face under foundation. To highlight, I’ll mix Marc Jacobs Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter and Iconic London Illuminator together, then apply it with a damp Beautyblender, which is the key – you have to bounce it into the skin so that it photographs well and doesn’t look heavy in person. If you prefer powders, Dose of Colors’ Chasing the Sun highlighter packs a punch without being glittery.

I’m an expert at taming my crazy hair…

…I have extensions, which has saved me so much time with my naturally frizzy hair. I’m an expert at blowdrying it smooth and sleek now, and I can’t live without Bumble and Bumble’s All-Style Blow Dry cream and OUAI’s Leave In Conditioner. Unfortunately for my husband I sleep with a silk turban on, too – sorry Steven!

My go-to glam…

…starts with NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation because it lasts all night; I apply it with a Beautyblender for a smooth finish. The Becca Aqua Luminous Perfecting Concealer is amazing for under the eyes if you have dry skin because it’s hydrating and doesn’t cake. I love a warm bronze smoky eye; the best way to dress up your eyes quickly is with a false strip lash, then adding shadow to the lower lash line.

THE MORNING AFTER

I make breakfast with vegetables from my garden…

…My husband Steven and I usually make an egg scramble with our homegrown jalapeños, tomatoes, avocado and a tortilla. We recently moved house and got our own garden so we grow our own vegetables; I love gardening, it’s the most therapeutic thing ever.

My hangover cure…

…is a vitamin IV drip. They pump you with fluids and anti-nausea which is great, it brings me back to life! I wish I was one of those people who felt energized by working out, but is it terrible if I say coffee is the only thing that helps?

I don’t look at any screens…

…I wind down by going for a bike ride around my neighborhood – it’s an activity where I’m not on my phone and nobody can reach me. And I’m a real ‘Netflix and chill’ girl, my husband and I just love getting takeout and binge-watching TV shows. If I can’t sleep I always stick on my favorite Disney film, either Beauty and the Beast or Aladdin – it just calms me and works every time.

My biggest indulgence for the holidays…

…is Abuelita hot chocolate. It’s a Mexican hot chocolate with a cinnamon flavor that my mom would always make us during the holidays; I can’t get enough.
