In some ways, Margot Robbie, Sofia Richie Grainge and Laura Harrier couldn’t be more different. Take social media: Robbie quit Instagram and Twitter more than two years ago and hasn’t looked back, while Richie Grainge launched a new TikTok account just days before her blockbuster summer wedding – and Harrier falls somewhere between the two. The same goes for relationships: Robbie married her long-time boyfriend, British director Tom Ackerley, in a secret ceremony in Australia back in 2016 (with not a single public photo to be seen), while Richie Grainge’s wedding to Elliot Grainge was, without question, the biggest nuptial of the summer – and again, Harrier is somewhere between the two (she’s been engaged to fashion consultant Sam Jarou since September 2022). However, when it comes to beauty, this trio is the perfect trifecta. Here’s why…

While Robbie’s fashion looks on the Barbie press tour channeled everything from the 1960s to the ’90s and beyond, her skin was always one thing: glorious. “The keywords are ‘heightened natural’,” says Pati Dubroff, Robbie’s go-to makeup artist – and the expert behind Richie Grainge’s wedding-day look. “Sofia is so naturally beautiful, I didn’t want to cover any of that up,” she continues. Similarly, while gorgeous table settings, delicious pasta and the juiciest of fruits have dominated Laura Harrier’s Instagram feed, the glimpses she’s given us of her recent trip to Positano have revealed a luscious, dewy complexion down to her shoulders and décolletage.

Maximize the effects of hyaluronic-acid serums and collagen-boosting moisturizers by choosing highlighters and bronzers over anything too heavy. For the after-party for the London premiere of Barbie, Robbie wore a tiny red corset dress by Turkish-British designer Dilara Fındıkoğlu, which showed off miles of golden, glowing skin. To get the look, Dubroff’s key products include Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation (“an excellent, buildable foundation that keeps skin looking like skin, just better”), Chanel Glow Bronzing Cream in Soleil Tan Bronze (“the perfect texture and finish for a natural, bronzey glow”), and Chanel Baume Essentiel Multi-Use Glow Stick in Transparent and Sculpting (“a key element in my kit and always incorporated in some capacity – to highlight tops of cheekbones and/or the eyelid”).

For Richie Grainge’s wedding, “Sofia wanted to look like herself – and not in any way feel like she was wearing a mask of makeup,” recalls Dubroff, who applied “touches of golden glow to the eye and amped up the warmth of her skin tone”. Similarly, Harrier highlighted her glowing summer skin at a recent dinner party with just a sweep of mascara and liner on her eyes.

While we always have time for a tousled, minimalist bob, Richie Grainge’s sleek wedding-day bun is the epitome of sophistication. Known for her long, beachy-blonde locks, it’s only fitting that she went with a different style for the ceremony itself – albeit one that allowed her to keep her signature center parting. Meanwhile, Harrier has also been rocking a low bun with a center parting: sometimes smooth, sleek, and finished with a glossy hair oil; sometimes with a ’90s curtain fringe – a look that Robbie also adopted to accompany her baby-pink Vivienne Westwood dress for the London premiere of Barbie.

If there’s one thing we loved most about the summer of Barbie, it was seeing Robbie’s stylist, Andrew Mukamal, bring to life the fun and glamour that goes hand in hand with playing the ultimate icon. Case in point: her Schiaparelli haute-couture gown for the LA premiere of the film, complete with ponytail and ’60s-inspired hair wave, as well as the vintage Moschino and Versace pieces she wore in Seoul. For more daring fashion looks like these, Dubroff recommends putting the focus on the eyes or the lips, or harmonizing tones to help switch things up. “We focused on shades and tones within the Barbie spectrum, from ruby red to blush pink – never overly painted or powdered,” she says. A bold red lip paired well with the ’60s wave and Schiaparelli dress, while a fresh face and glossy, perfectly tonged waves completed Robbie’s Barbiecore looks in Seoul.
