L-R: Proenza Schouler; Gucci; Victoria Beckham

From investment denim to resort-ready dresses and sleek ’90s-style bags, the SS25 runways were awash with plenty of new-season styles to get excited about. Here, our fashion experts reveal the leading looks that are on their radar right now…

The resort-ready dress

L-R: Loewe; Ferragamo; Erdem

“In the summer, I only wear dresses. I love the ease of getting dressed – and the impact of the romantic and dramatic styles on offer. Always full-length, ideally with a sweeping hem to add some over-the-topness to a quiet Tuesday – and one that offers flashes of sun-kissed (please UK weather, play ball this year) skin for a more seductive finish. I love the bold prints from Loewe, or the column dresses by Ferragamo. Simply add great earrings and sandals.” Kay Barron, fashion director

Metal-frame sunglasses

“Metal-frame sunglasses have always been my preferred style – I find the daintier design most flattering for my face shape – and since they’re trending again this season, it feels like the perfect time to invest in a new pair. I’ll be choosing between Loewe’s oversized aviators, which were styled with multiple looks on the SS25 runway, and Bottega Veneta’s ’90s-style wire frames – the playful sardine-shaped arms are almost too good to resist.” Colleen Ross, fashion content editor

The skirt

L-R: S.S. Daley; Alaïa; Bottega Veneta

“For the past few seasons, designers have put skirts at the forefront of collections. Whether you prefer long or short hemlines, solid colors or eye-catching prints, there’s a style for every woman. At the SS25 shows, we saw a lot of statement skirts in embossed and intrecciato leather from the likes of Gucci and Bottega Veneta, fringed and finely knitted maxis at Gabriela Hearst, Proenza Schouler and Alaïa along with feminine styles in soft silk, lace and suede at Altuzarra, Dries Van Noten, Blazé Milano and Rabanne – all look elegant with a sleek loafer or kitten heel. I personally love a good little black mini or midi, such as Khaite’s ‘Jett’ and ‘Loxley’, and find skirts an empowering and sophisticated alternative to pants.” Lydia Zacharis, buying manager

Bag charms

“Spotted on the runways at Loewe, Balenciaga and Chloé, bag charms offer the opportunity to express personality and bring a new lease of life to your favorite handbag. From minimalist chains to playful teddy bears and cowboy boots, there is something for everyone this season. I have my eye on Anya Hindmarch’s cherries for my vacation tote and a Martha Calvo beaded charm for every day.” Millie Parry, shopping assistant

Something sheer

L-R: Tove; Chloé; Khaite

“The SS25 collections were all about romanticism and celebrating the female form, which meant lots of sheer textures and flowing silhouettes – gossamer light fabrics floated down the runway at top shows including Khaite, Tove, Valentino and Saint Laurent. What I like most about this trend is that you can interpret it however you choose, be it from head-to-toe à la Chloé or – for those of us who prefer a touch more coverage – with a blazer or knit. Translucent fabrics are also a great way to incorporate color into your outfit, especially if you don’t usually wear a lot as they tend to soften the appearance of brighter shades.” Abbi Minchin, buying editor

Elongated bag

“The ’90s is my favorite decade for fashion and I can’t resist a modern version of the original baguette bag. Defined by its sleek and elongated shape, it adds a touch of elegance to any outfit and is both functional and chic. Khaite’s ‘Simona’ is ideal for carrying your daily essentials while Savette’s ‘Symmetry Pochette’ makes the perfect +1 for an evening out.” Viktorija Tomasevic, shopping editor

Investment denim

L-R: Stella McCartney; Gucci; Chloé

“It’s a rare day that I’m not wearing denim. Dark shades suit me better, so I’m delighted that indigo washes are the most sought-after this season. Denim is something I invest in as a great pair of jeans can become a forever piece in your closet – plus, when you consider price-per-wear they really are worth it. My go-to brand is Agolde as the fits are impeccable and the quality is amazing. I treated myself to one of Loewe’s leather logo patch denim jackets a few years ago and it’s become a prized piece in my wardrobe that I look forward to handing down to my daughter one day (or at least sharing if I’m not ready to part with it).” Gillian Brett, head of fashion content

Gucci

Minimalist sandals

“As somewhat of a devotee to all things understated, to me, there is no better way to elevate an outfit than with a minimal sandal – it’s the ultimate day-to-evening shoe. Designers must think so, too, since sleek, barely-there styles were seen all over the SS25 runways. Top of my list is The Row’s minimal flip-flops – a new-season essential – that look just as elegant with wide-leg pants as they do with denim. Elsewhere, heel lovers should look no further than Alaïa’s thong sandals or Chloé's playful take on jelly shoes.” Phoebe Unwin, buying manager

Saint Laurent

The power suit

L-R: Victoria Beckham; Stella McCartney; Gabriela Hearst

“As a lover of tailoring, I was thrilled to see the SS25 runway filled with great suits. Saint Laurent always creates the chicest suits with a cool, androgynous fit. I love an oversized blazer paired with wide-leg pants as I find it looks relaxed and more importantly, feels very comfortable. I think a suit looks best with a plain tee and an interesting necklace or brooch to make it a bit more personal.” Connie Daw, junior shopping editor
